Hybrint offers the following features: adaptable, lightweight, durable, breathable, waterproof, fully recyclable and fast mounting operational process.
Worldwide anthropometric data have been analyzed to set critical parameters and design guidelines for the appropriate product development.
Medical professionals were involved in the development of the product and have defined its technical requirements.
The product consists of four fitted high-temperature thermoplastic polymers, 2 rigids and 2 elastomers in such configuration which would be adaptable for every single patient.
Based on our product development strategy, we have design and analyse the various versions of Hybrint product, to illustrate its features and optimize the user experience.
Via 3d printing we have explored and replicated possible material combinations, tolerances for the adaptability feature as well as a variety of joint mechanisms, in order to optimize the production and the processing parameters.
Selected patterns and material combinations were characterized and evaluated under three point bending tests.
Initial user testing procedures help us to develop our minimum viable product and perform further optimization studies.
Our team participated in the 9th International Multithematic Bio-Medical Congress with oral and poster presentations.
Simlead will organize an online workshop on 29th of December, in order the product to be tested by users with chronic musculoskeletal diseases and medical professionals.
The aim of Hybrint is to develop a breakthrough orthopedic wrist/forearm splint with global market penetration prospects. Hybrint would span the manufacturing and process technology of injection molding in the global orthopedic supports sector, by introducing two fitted high-temperature thermoplastic polymers, rigid and elastomer, in such configuration which would be adaptable for every single patient/user (gender/age, gender neutrality). Hybrint technology, is currently focused to design, develop and fabricate the first adaptable orthosis forearm-wrist splint with advanced competitive features such as; waterproof, FDA approved materials, durable, lightweight, transparent (optional), fully recyclable, reusable, breathable, hygienic and with design features that allow to be used either on the right or left hand with equal ease.
The project is implemented by Simlead (Lead Partner), in collaboration with MAP Innovation (Partner) and it’s expected to be finalized in January 2022.
The project is funded by the EuropeanUnion – NextGenerationEU
